I haven’t posted a blog with significant meaning in such a long time. While my blogging is suffering, at least my running isn’t. Right now, I am about a month away from the Long Beach marathon and am averaging about 140-150 miles a month.
Recently, I slept through my alarm and missed a race that I was really looking forward to, the Disneyland Half Marathon. I am here today to tell all runners out there that life goes on past a missed race. Once I woke up and realized what I did, it was especially horrible because at that moment, I would have been lining up for my 6:00 a.m. start time. Regardless, waking up at 5:30, I did not have enough time to get ready, grab my gear and drive to the race. With special parking, street closures and about 13,000 people to navigate around, there was no making it to the start. At least it wasn’t a full marathon that I missed.
